Rubbish-Man and myself have been listening, to and playing in, punk and alternative rock bands for most of our lives. Coming with that territory there is a certain stigma around Pop music. However, neither Rubbish-Man nor myself can help tapping our feet to a good beat, no matter what the genre. So we have put together this list of 10 songs we shouldn’t like, but we actually love. In no particular order, here’s our list…
My Love, by Justin Timberlake
Featuring on his album ‘Future Sex/Love Sounds’ in 2006, this song is an absolute belter, I cannot help but bust out an awful dance-move or two whenever this song comes on.
She Wolf by Shakira
Featuring on her 2009 album ‘She Wolf’, this is our favourite song from the sultry Columbian Pop Goddess.
Counting Stars by OneRepublic
Featuring on their 2012 album ‘Native’, lately I’ve Been, I’ve been losing sleep, dreaming about the things that we could be.
Shout Out To My Ex by Little Mix
The 4th single to be released from their 2016 album ‘Glory Days’, this entry could have been many a Little Mix song, Who Got Da Power.
The Climb by Miley Cyrus
Featured on 2009’s ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ soundtrack, a tear-jerking song to accompany a tear-jerking emotion-filled movie.
Agadoo by Black Lace
Recorded in 1984, this timeless classic was once not a part of the BBC Radio 1 playlist, because it was not credible enough. Bullshit
The Promise by Girls Aloud
Taken from the girls 2008 album ‘Out of Control’, this song is a banger. It became their 4th number 1 song on the UK Charts, deserved.
Loving You by Minnie Riperton
Recorded back in 1974, and produced by Stevie Wonder, it was from Riperton’s 2nd album ‘Perfect Angel’. Rubbish Man can hit the high note
perfectly.
Let’s Get It Started by The Black Eyed Peas
Taken from the bands 2003 album ‘Elephunk’, this party anthem features one of Rubbish-Mans favourite bass lines ever.
Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? by Rod Stewart
Featured on his 1978 album ‘Blondes Have More Fun’, they really do, especially if they are dancing to this handbag filled dancefloor killer.
There we have it, we are not embarrassed by our love for these 10 awesome songs, if you have a problem, fight us.
