Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, fans have been wondering what will happen to the X-Men and Deadpool. Kevin Feige, the watcher of Disney’s Marvel franchise has stated that he plans to reboot the likes of the X-Men, Silver Surfer, Galactus and the Fantastic Four to fit the MCU mold yet Bob Iger, the head honcho of Disney, has said that he plans to keep Ryan Reynolds on board as Wade Wilson and eventually introduce him into the MCU.
But how is this possible? Today, Marvel released the new trailer for Spider-Man-Far From Home. Watch it below… (there are MAJOR spoilers for Avengers: Endgame in this trailer, so if you haven’t seen it, consider this your last warning)
In the new Spider-Man trailer, Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury tells Peter Parker that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio is from a different Earth. Assumedly, this is a result of the Avengers meddling with time in Endgame and creating numerous timelines in the process. This opens up countless possibilities for the MCU going forward. So how does Deadpool fit into this?

The Deadpool films never really felt like they fit into Fox’s X-Men franchise. Despite the crude jokes and naughty language, the tone of the films seemed more in line with the MCU. Colossus in the Deadpool movies is completely different to the version that Daniel Cudmore played in the original X-Men movies and it was far more comic book accurate than Cudmore’s version, and the final fight in the first Deadpool movie even took place on a crashed S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier as seen in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Age Of Ultron.

With a wink and a nudge, it’s entirely plausible to imagine that the Deadpool movies have taken place within the MCU Universe, just not the one we currently know. With Spider-Man: Far From Home introducing multiple timelines and universes, it makes Disney’s job of introducing Deadpool into the MCU that much easier, whilst also ignoring everything Fox’s X-Men movies have done in the past.
In the next Deadpool movie, Wade can easily make a sly quip to the camera about how he’s jumped franchises and I doubt anyone would mind. As long as he keeps that to his own solo films, it’ll be fine. Nobody wants Deadpool to break the fourth wall during an epic Endgame-esque battle with the likes of Kang The Conquerer, Galactus or Doctor Doom. That would just distract viewers from what is actually going on.
What’s your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comments, and keep checking back just incase I have another stupid MCU theory. Thanks for reading!
