Yes, we know it’s scripted. But what if wins and losses actually mattered in the world of the WWE? It seems to be something that those in the writers room tend to ignore. If the match results really did matter, would Kofi Kingston have deserved his World title shot? Should the Iconics be at the top of the women’s tag division? Should Becky Lynch actually be the holder of both the RAW and Smackdown Women’s titles?

I’ve tallied up all the results from each episode of Raw, Smackdown, NXT, NXT UK, Main Event and 205 Live as well as WrestleMania and NXT Takeover: New York to try and determine who really was the wrestler of the month in April 2019.

But first…

The Top 10 Worst WWE Wrestlers Of April 2019

4 (Joint): Buddy Murphy / Cedrick Alexander / Chad Gable / Mike Kanellis / Ruby Riott / Sheamus / Tamina
Wins: 0 – Losses: 3

2 (Joint): Drew McIntyre / Rusev
Wins: 0 – Losses: 4

1st: Shinsuke Nakamura
Wins: 0 – Losses: 5

Poor Shinsuke. For whatever reason, he has become the company’s whipping boy and had the worst results in April 2019.

And here’s the Top 25. In the interest of fairness, each wrestler must have competed in at least 3 televised matches (I’m not counting house shows as they aren’t really canon), so don’t expect to see the likes of Triple H, Batista, Walter, Pete Dunne or even Velveteen Dream here. Earn your dues and you shall be rewarded!

6: AJ Styles
Wins: 4 – Losses: 0

5: Finn BalorWWE Intercontinental Champion
Wins: 5 – Losses: 1 (Won the WWE Intercontinental Championship)

Who knows what’s going on with Finn Balor at the moment. This is the guy that should be at the top of the mountain yet the WWE do not seem to know what do with him, but at least he got a WrestleMania moment towards the end of WrestleMania by defeating Bobby Lashley for the Intercontinental Championship.

4: Becky LynchRAW & Smackdown Womens Champion
Wins: 5 – Losses: 0 (Won the RAW & Smackdown Womens Championship)

Towards the end of 2018, Becky had all the momentum behind her and her WrestleMania headlining moment felt deserved, but by the time WrestleMania finally came about, it might have been too little, too late. Becky v Charlotte v Ronda Rousey ended up being an underwhelming affair for what should have been a historic main event. Still, results are what matters here, and she is now Becky Two Belts.

2: (Joint): Erik & Ivar (The Viking Experience / Raiders / Warriors / whatever it is now)
Wins: 6 – Losses: 0

We’ve all had a giggle at their expenses over the last month. Vince clearly has no idea what talent he has on his hands and has lumped them with a ridiculous Viking gimmick. Still, team name aside, we’re only counting wins and losses here and these guys won all of their matches in April.

1: Kofi KingstonWWE Champion
Wins: 6 – Losses: 0 (Also won the WWE Championship)

Who else was it going to be? Kofi has had a phenomenal couple of months in the WWE and was rightly awarded the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, becoming the first African American man in the company’s 56 year history to be honoured with the title, which is quite frankly insane. How long he’ll keep it remains to be seen, but Kofi fully deserves the NERDFACE Wrestler of the Month in April 2019!

Here’s some honourable mentions that didn’t meet Nerdface’s three-match quota…

Triple H

Triple H had his big historic win “sigh” by defeating former wrestler turned Marvel legend, Batista. What Triple H is doing at NXT is great, but he needs to stop trying to make himself as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. It doesn’t matter how much you try to shove it down our throats, no one is buying it. What was the purpose of this? This 25 minute slogfest wasn’t a dignified way to end Batista’s in-ring career, and Triple H is hardly someone who needs to get the win to boost his career. Pointless.

VELVETEEN DREAM & MATT RIDDLE

Velveteen Dream defended his NXT North American Championship against Matt Riddle in a confusing, but fascinating match. Riddle, who had been a super-over babyface up until this point, found himself on the receiving end of boos at NXT Takeover: New York, but instead of getting stroppy about his reception like some have done in the past (here’s looking at you Batista Blue Pants circa 2014), he perfectly played up to it. Both of these guys are future stars, as long as VKM is no longer at the helm.

WALTER

WALTER won the NXT UK Championship from Pete Dunne, who held the title for 685 days. Whilst Dunne’s reign is impressive, the UK Title still doesn’t feel like a big deal. Zack Ryder’s pretend Internet Championship reign lasted nearly as long and I rank the two titles as being equal right now because the WWE haven’t given us much reason to care about the NXT UK division. It’s just not compelling television.
